Jane Austen in Lyme Regis and Sidmouth

Jane Austen in Lyme Regis and Sidmouth
Our expert guide takes you to Lyme Regis – one of Jane’s own favourite places; Lyme has a starring role in Persuasion most famously featuring it’s harbour, The Cobb.

Your guide will meet you at Axminster Railway station, and then you will journey on to Lyme Regis. This was one of Jane’s own favourite places. Lyme has a starring role in Persuasion. You will see all the life locations including Jane’s lodgings, and the locations in Persuasion and as filmed in adaptations including the famous Cobb.
We always try to arrange for you to meet Jane’s closest living relation who has her home in Lyme, however Lyme Regis museum contains a selection of Jane’s own possessions, donated by her family. You will have refreshments here(included) before travelling onward.
Sidmouth is our next stop; you have lunch here before exploring Sidmouth properly. Jane visited in 1801 and is said to have fallen in love with a gentleman here. This gorgeous seaside town was fashionable in the Regency era and there is plenty to see from Jane’s time.
Tour ends at Exeter St Davids Railway Station for your onward/homeward journey.
